Every year, the Massachusetts Association of Student Councils holds an annual unified bocce tournament. This year’s tournament was held at Rockland High School, on Sunday, January 29, raising money for the Special Olympics. Walpole High School’s student council brought 12 participants, including Student Council President Michael Timson and Vice President Taylor Petrucci.
“It’s always nice to go play and see the smiles on the unified players’ faces and watch those smiles transfer to everyone else in the room,” said Timson.
There were no playoffs in the tournament, but each team played in a total of 3 games. Walpole had two teams participate, and they ended the day with a combined record of 4-2.
“It was a fun experience” said senior David Moser, Walpole’s Student Council Chair in the bocce tournament. “[It] brought together a bunch of schools from across the state.”
Walpole High School’s Student Council advisor Kerry McMenimen was also in attendance.
“Bocce is always fun, we always do well and have fun” she said.
